After 15 years, DMX’s dark debut still packs bite

DMX’s debut is a landmark hip-hop album, but it’s also a pop album (as in, popular), which is utterly hilarious. It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, released on May 19, 1998, went straight to No. 1 its opening week, and it went 4x Platinum in just over two years. That’s despite the fact that it was a sociopathic, off-putting collection of shouted rhymes about righteous vengeance and nihilistic violence paired with grimy, foreboding beats. Atlanta’s hometown hero stars in Universal Pictures’ upcoming release all of his celebrity friends and family members joined him at Cinebistro at Town Brookhaven.

Attendees included: LeToya Luckett, Young Jeezy, Antonia “Toya” Wright, Chaka Zulu (DTP), Sheneka Adams and her promoter boyfriend Jakob York, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Monica showed off her growing baby bump alongside her hubby Shannon Brown and more.

“Y’all act like you never seen a real Brady before!”

The Brady Bunch was back-in-effect this weekend to celebrate the 40-year anniversary of an episode of the classic TV sitcom. Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, and Susan Olsen — who played Greg, Peter and Cindy Brady — all returned to the Kings Island amusement park in Cincinnati to commemorate the “Cincinnati Kids” episode that aired in 1973. Signing autographs for fans and sharing stories about being a Brady, the actors also sang, danced and took photos with guests at the celebration.
