Count on Rick Rubin to flip the script. After being nominated to take on the the ALS Ice Bucket challenge by Eminem this past weekend, the Bearded One decided to bathe in ice. So shame on all the athletes who take ice baths on the regular and still shrieked when they got a bucket of frozen water dumped on them (we’re looking at you, LeBron James). It’s still ’93 til infinity, but there’s nothing like the present as the legendary Souls of Mischief are back with their new LP, There Is Only Now. Produced entirely by renaissance man Adrian Younge, the concept album is narrated by A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad, who plays the DJ for fictional Oakland radio station K-NOW, while Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg and William Hart of The Delfonics also make guest appearances. After a lot of patience and time perfecting his craft, Stalley is ready for fans to hear his debut album. The MMG artist has announced his debut album, Ohio, will arrive on October 28 via Maybach Music Group/Atlantic Records. Along with the release date news, Stalley, a native of Massillon, Ohio, drops the new single “Jackin’ Chevys.” Produced by Rashad, the song features an interpolation of Eazy-E’s “Cruisin in My 6-4.”

In late 2006, Eminem and Shady Records released the label’s first official compilation, Eminem Presents: The Re-Up. It featured tracks from Shady artists like 50 Cent, Obie Trice, Stat Quo, Bobby Creekwater, D-12, and, of course, Eminem. And it was—how do we put this?—not great. There were some songs that represented the Shady brand well, like the album’s lead single, “You Don’t Know.” But in general, The Re-Up was disjointed and didn’t do much to get us excited about some of the lesser-known Shady artists.
